The St. Monica Intercessory Group, a group of mothers whose primary task is prayer and intercession is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. August 27, the feast of St. Monica, mother of St. Augustine of Hippo, and one of the great daughters of the Church, will mark the celebration.
It was Rev. Fr. Ed Polotan, former parish priest of the Mother of Good Counsel Parish who encouraged five women in 1997 to form a group named after St. Monica. Those five women, members of a charismatic community, were already coming together regularly to listen to the Word of God and pray for one another as they go through life together as sisters in the Lord. Since the time the group received its new ”Augustinian” identity they have not ceased to pray not only for themselves but also for those who ask for their prayers.
The group meets every Tuesday at the Blessed Sacrament chapel for an hour of prayer in addition to their weekly bible study. They also participate in parish activities aimed towards the poor. Currently they are also helping in the feeding program that the parish has set up in partnership with the Kiwanis.
Please read more about the St. Monica Intercessory Group in the Feature Articles section. Our pictures are also in this site’s Gallery of Photos.

The MGCP Newsroom formerly housed at http://mgcp.frih.net is now lost to us. Its hosting was cancelled due to inactivity. All the materials that were once posted in its pages including the subsites which could have been used by different groups for different activities are now lost. But we are reviving it. Thanks to the generosity of certain people, the present blogsite can be used for maintaining a news site for the Mother of Good Counsel Parish.
